WHAT TO EXPECT

THE FIRST STEPS.

I will greet you, take the paperwork (if filled out while there), and I will then take you back to my office. From there, I will do my best to help you feel as comfortable as possible. I will go over confidentiality, what today will look like, and answer any questions you have upfront. I will ask why you are seeking counseling and try to get as much of an idea of who you are as possible in an hour. We will then discuss the next steps.
When you first come into my counseling office, you will enter the waiting room. If you have not already filled out paperwork, there will be some clipboards present for you to fill out. If you have your paperwork done, then you will find the waiting room to be a comfortable place to have a drink/snack to pass the time.

Growth is painful. Change is painful. But nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don’t belong. – Mandy Hale

Possible next steps can include…

Setting weekly counseling appointments

Setting every other week counseling appointments

Concerns about safety and discussing best action to keep everyone safe (twice a week counseling or possible referral to emergency room for assessment)

Not setting any appointments (you may not need counseling or I might not have the skills to help your particular needs)
